Car Cost Compare

10-Year TCO Simulator

Why Calculate 10-Year Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)?

Buying a car is more than just the sticker price. Fuel costs, maintenance, taxes, and depreciation over 10 years can significantly impact your financial health. A car that looks cheap upfront might cost you double in the long run due to fuel inefficiencies.

Electric Vehicles (EVs) often have higher initial price tags but much lower operating costs. Hybrids (HEV) offer a middle ground. Our TCO Simulator helps you visualize the Real Cost and find the 'Break-Even Point'—the exact moment when an EV or Hybrid becomes cheaper than a traditional gasoline car.

For practical planning, compare at least two mileage assumptions and a conservative fuel-price scenario. This helps you avoid decisions based on one optimistic input and makes long-term ownership budgeting more reliable.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the Total Cost (TCO) calculated?

We sum up the Vehicle Price (minus subsidies), cumulative Fuel/Electricity Costs over 10 years, and estimated Maintenance Costs. We calculate this year-by-year to show the trend.

Are maintenance costs accurate?

We use industry-standard estimates for maintenance intervals (e.g., Engine oil every 10,000km). EVs generally have lower maintenance costs because they lack engines, transmissions, and exhaust systems.

Does this include Insurance or Tax?

Currently, we focus on Operating Costs (Fuel + Maintenance). Insurance and Taxes vary wildly by region, driver age, and car model, so they are excluded to keep the comparison fair and focused on vehicle efficiency.
